Finland

Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen of Finland became the 18th world leader to honor my request and the 6th world leader to personally sign the photo.

Finland seems to have personalized the letter more than other countries. The envelope was hand addressed and the photo hand signed. There was, however, no letter included in the envelope.

It's amazing how fast the letter arrived. The postage meter indicates it was mailed on January 2nd. Today it is only January 6th.

I also noticed that the postage was paid using a Pitney Bowes postage meter. I find that to be very interesting because Pitney Bowes is a distinctly American company and I had no idea they had a presence abroad. Did you?

You might also want to get the picture and signature of the current president of Finland, Tarja Halonen, as well... Though, to be fair, the prime minister tends to be more involved in internal affairs.

The presidential elections are currently progressing, so she might not be president for much longer. And, as Matti Vanhanen is one of the (stronger) candidates, you might save yourself the postage...

Keep up the good work and good luck!

And by internal affairs, I meant the complete opposite.
The prime minister is more involved in external/international affairs. Apologies.

This is my favorite photograph so far. It has a very casual and friendly feel, very unlike the other photographs you have received.

Well, it's Finland, after all. A great open-minded place to be.
