Latvia

Prime Minister Aigars Kalvitis of Latvia became the 20th world leader to honor my request and the 7th world leader to personally sign the photo (albeit barely legibly).

The letter took somewhat of a detour before it arrived. Notice the bottom of the envelope is stamped with the wrong zip code. Apparently the automated sorting machines at the USPS have a hard time deciphering foreign handwriting.

Seemingly they were surprised to hear from me as they write "Latvia appreciates and values people of foreign countries showing interest about Latvia." Is it that shocking?

The Baltic Republics -- Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania -- spent most of the 20th century occupied by the Soviet Union, with no sovereignty, their plight seemingly forgotten by the world. It's no wonder they appreciate the interest.
